Navigating the AI-Driven Hiring Landscape — Dennis Moriarity, CIO, Link Technologies
Link Technologies CIO Dennis Moriarity opened the day by challenging job seekers to reconsider what makes them competitive in a world where AI-generated resumes are everywhere. His answer: authenticity. In a landscape where so much content is polished and generated, your real story is your edge. Attendees left with a sharper understanding of how to position themselves not just for today's job market, but for where it's heading.
Your Resilient Career — Dr. Jessica Parker, VP of CyRoot Academy
Dr. Jessica Parker followed with a framework for career resilience built on four pillars: cognitive flexibility, interpersonal competence, learning agility, and self-direction. She gave attendees three concrete moves for navigating career transitions — mirror the language of the roles you want, activate a weak tie in your network, and translate your background into the terms employers are already looking for. Her 60-Second Reset framework — Stop, Breathe, Think, Feel — gave attendees a practical tool for interrupting reactive patterns and returning to intentional action. Her core message: emotions aren't obstacles. They're signals. Learning to read them is a competitive skill. She also reminded the room that joy isn't something to chase in big moments — it's something to recognize in the quiet ones.
Influence Without Authority — Asal "Vox" Gibson, Founder, CyRoot Academy
CyRoot Academy founder Vox Gibson closed the speaker sessions with a message that reframed how job seekers think about their own power in the job search process. Most opportunities are never posted publicly — up to 80% of positions are filled through relationships before they ever reach a job board. The path forward isn't to submit and wait. It's to connect, converse, and walk in with credibility.
Vox walked attendees through the art of influence without authority — how body language, genuine curiosity, and asking for advice rather than a job can open doors that cold applications never will. The workshop also featured a spotlight from IBM's Mike Plazek, who shared IBM's commitment to skilling communities through free technical training in AI and emerging technologies. IBM's digital credentials — structured at awareness, comprehension, and application levels — offer job seekers a way to demonstrate skills to employers in a meaningful, industry-backed format.
